Lesson 1: Settings in book!

Lesson Objectives: 
 

 Demonstrate using pic-collage the understanding of how mood can be portrayed by setting in books.

Create a pic-collage which demonstrates how the setting of chosen images can be described using adject

How are you today year 3s?! 

Make sure during this lesson we are being appropriate with our iPads and listening and reading all the instructions! 


 

To start!

As a class:

  • Read "The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson. Whilst reading your teacher will stop reading you should volunteer to write up on the board different adjectives and phrases used to describe the setting in the book. 

Next up: 

1. Please get your devices.

2. You are going to create a pic-collage. 

Guide to your pic-collage:

Choose different settings - Under each write a sentence which describes them.

Helpful tips! 

  • You can look at the infographic below to help you to use Pic-collage. 

  • You should get their pictures from google. Examples of what you could type into the browser include: dark bushy forest, blue ocean…

  • An example is below. 

To finish us off:

  • Once you have completed your  pic-collages lay your iPad on the desk, walk around and have a look at your peers work!

  • Teacher will ask questions – “Did anyone see any really great words or sentences which they want to share”.

  • Next: upload your work to seesaw.
